When you finish, you’ll be able to

  • Understand the physical, chemical and toxicological properties of H₂S, as well as its effects on human health and the environment.
  • Recognize areas with potential for H₂S release, especially in sectors such as oil and gas, mining and wastewater treatment, among others.
  • Apply preventive measures and engineering controls to minimize H₂S exposure.
  • Master the use of gas monitoring equipment and respiratory protection (SCBA and SAR) in accordance with international best practices.
  • Act effectively in an H₂S exposure emergency, following evacuation, rescue and first aid protocols.
  • Comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, such as OSHA, NIOSH, API and ANSI.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture and collective responsibility regarding H₂S hazards.

This course has been designed to provide participants with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to identify, assess and control the hazards associated with hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) in industrial settings. Upon completing the training, participants will be qualified to perform H₂S risk control, in accordance with the safety standards established by the ANSI Z390.1 standard.

This course not only meets regulatory requirements but also strengthens workers' professionalism, leadership and response capability in high-risk environments.

Training scope

This course covers the theoretical knowledge and practical skills the participant needs to perform as a specialist in the identification, assessment, control of and response to hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) exposure hazards in industrial settings.

Methodology

The course follows a theoretical–applied approach, designed so that participants not only understand the key concepts but also develop the skills to act correctly in real work situations. The methodology used is aligned with the ANSI Z390.1 standard

This training includes

  • Course completion certificate and ID card.

  • Oil and gas (upstream, midstream and downstream)
  • Wastewater treatment plants
  • Mining and drilling
  • Chemical and petrochemical industry
  • Emergency response and industrial rescue services
  • Contractor companies operating in areas classified as high-risk for H₂S

It is also intended for safety consultants, technical trainers and HSE personnel who need to become accredited as H₂S risk control specialists, in accordance with the ANSI Z390.1 standard and international best practices.

Requirements

  • Access to a computer, tablet or cell phone with a stable internet connection.
  • Ability to view PDF documents and technical videos.
