  • Online
  • 16 hours
  • Advanced level
  • Spanish and English
  • Verifiable certificate

When you finish, you’ll be able to

Upon completing this course, the participant will be able to understand and apply the HAZOP methodology in a structured and effective manner, through knowledge of the international regulatory framework governing these studies, the identification of the basic information needed to conduct them, and the analysis of the fundamental organizational elements involved. Likewise, they will acquire the competencies needed to properly prepare, execute, close out and document a HAZOP study, ensuring the proper preparation of the final report (deliverable).

Training scope

Fundamentals and International Regulatory Framework

The essential principles of the HAZOP methodology will be covered, framed within the main international standards and guidelines, including IEC 61882, IEC 61511, OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and the best practices recommended by the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS®).

Methodology and Specialized Terminology

The key concepts, technical terminology and methodological structure of the HAZOP study will be analyzed in depth, as well as the information, resource and planning requirements needed for effective preparation of the analysis.

Practical Application of the Methodology

Case studies and practical exercises focused on the real-world application of the HAZOP methodology will be developed, allowing participants to strengthen the identification of deviations, causes, consequences and safeguards (applicable to the in-person format).

Records Management and Technical Documentation

The proper preparation and control of records in HAZOP worksheets will be covered, as well as the efficient use of specialized tools such as PHIA-Expert®, and the preparation of the technical documentation and reports associated with the study, in accordance with international good practices.

Assignment of Responsibilities and Action Management

Clear guidelines will be established for defining the roles and responsibilities of the HAZOP team, as well as for the follow-up, closure and verification of the recommendations and actions resulting from the analysis.

Integration into the Process Safety Management System (PSM)

The way HAZOP studies are effectively integrated into the Process Safety Management System will be analyzed, in line with the CCPS® approach, contributing to continuous improvement, management of change and the prevention of major incidents.
