Operating procedures are one of the most important barriers to prevent incidents, control risks and ensure safe and reliable operations. A well-designed procedure not only states what to do, but also how to do it safely, consistently and efficiently.

In this course you will learn to develop, review and implement operating procedures aligned with CCPS best practices, strengthening operational discipline, reducing human error and improving operational performance.

"Safe operations do not depend on memory or individual experience. They depend on clear, precise procedures carried out with discipline. Learn to build and implement them following CCPS best practices."

Training scope

This course provides the fundamental knowledge needed to understand, develop, review and implement effective operating procedures, aligned with the good practices promoted by the CCPS (Center for Chemical Process Safety) and the principles of Process Safety.

During the training, participants will learn the role of operating procedures as a fundamental barrier for incident prevention, human error reduction and the strengthening of operational discipline. The course will also address the basic requirements for preparing clear, accurate, up-to-date and technically consistent procedures.

The course covers the essential elements that procedures must contain for the different operating phases, including normal operation, startup, normal shutdown, emergency shutdown, abnormal conditions and initial response to operational deviations. Concepts related to operating limits, roles and responsibilities, human factors, training and document control will also be reviewed.

Methodology

Synchronous online: It will be delivered through a multimedia presentation, Explaining the theoretical component and relating it to real situations typical of organizations, based on the instructor's experience and the participants' companies (if any), Discussions and exercises based on the course objectives will be developed.
