When you finish, you’ll be able to

  • Recognize when a task is work at height and which threshold applies depending on the activity and the site.
  • Choose protection in the right order: eliminate, protect with guardrails and covers, restrict and, lastly, arrest the fall.
  • Identify each piece of the personal system (harness, connector, anchor) and detect incompatible connections.
  • Know what strength an anchor must have, who certifies it and when to stop the decision for lack of evidence.
  • Calculate the fall clearance with a lanyard and energy absorber or with a self-retracting lifeline, in feet and in meters.
  • Inspect the harness, the lanyard and the self-retracting lifeline before using them, and decide whether to use them, set them aside or retire them.
  • Understand suspension trauma and prepare a timely rescue plan, with real capacity on site.
  • Choose the means of access (ladder, scaffold, aerial work platform) and the protection each one requires.
  • Analyze real fall cases: what failed, in what order and where the chain could have been broken.
  • Resolve a work-at-height job from start to finish and know what this training does and does not certify.

Training scope

The training prepares you to decide on and verify fall protection based on OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, ANSI/ASSP Z359, Venezuelan standards (COVENIN, LOPCYMAT) and IOGP good practices. It does not designate a competent or qualified person (the employer does that) and it does not replace in-person practice with real equipment in front of an evaluator.

Methodology

Online training, at your own pace: 11 modules (welcome and 10 content modules) with 97 explanatory videos (about 4 hours of video) with subtitles, 3D models, real photos and investigated cases. The total time commitment, including reading, questions and exams, is about 10 hours.

Each module ends with a 10-question exam; at the end, a 20-question exam covering the whole training.

This training includes

  • 97 videos with subtitles.
  • Job tools (cards and decision sheets for each module).
  • Module exams and a final exam with unlimited attempts.
  • Verifiable certificate of completion upon passing.
