When you finish, you’ll be able to

  • Distinguish hazard from risk and classify an event as an incident, near miss or accident.
  • Recognize physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, mechanical, electrical and psychosocial hazards in your area, and read a GHS label and an NFPA 704 diamond at a basic level.
  • Rank controls according to their hierarchy and know what the work permit, the job risk analysis and lockout/tagout are for.
  • Choose personal protective equipment according to the hazard, recognize when it is damaged and understand why it is the last barrier.
  • Respond to a small spill and separate common waste from hazardous waste.
  • Choose the extinguisher according to the class of fire and decide when to fight an incipient fire and when to evacuate.
  • Put the first steps of an emergency in order (protect, alert, rescue) and recognize when a person needs CPR and an AED.
  • Report an incident with the minimum required information and distinguish immediate cause from root cause.

Training scope

It provides the basic knowledge to recognize hazards, prevent accidents, use protective equipment, act in the first minutes of an emergency and report what happened, based on OSHA, ANSI/ISEA, NFPA, the GHS, the ILO and Venezuelan regulations (LOPCYMAT, COVENIN). It does not authorize high-risk work, nor does it replace job-specific training or certified hands-on practice.

Methodology

Online training, at your own pace: 10 modules (welcome and 9 content modules) with 53 explanatory videos with subtitles, real examples, photos and animations. About 3 hours of video; including reading, questions and exams, the total time commitment is about 8 hours.

Each module ends with a 10-question assessment and the training closes with a 20-question final exam.

This training includes

  • 53 videos with subtitles (44 from the learning path and 9 supplementary ones for supervisors).
  • Slides for each module in downloadable PDF.
  • Assessment for each module with unlimited attempts and a final exam.
  • Certificate of completion verifiable with a QR code.
